Rattling of a Six year old Child

PREFACE
The following verse was rattled instantly by my Six year old Grand Daughter,DHRITI by name,(my only son VINOD's younger of the two daughters he has) settled in London with her only sister and her parents, when she saw me composing poems in English during my stay with them along with my wife on a recent holiday. She instantly blurred out these verses one fine morning much to the delight of us all.I had then promised her that these rattlings of hers which fitted in the form of a poem will also find a place along with my other writings in my web site on my return to India.I thought it fit to share this writing with my other members of Kavitanjali family.

The charecter KOCHIMMA mentioned in this poem refers to my wife,so called by my both grand daughters since we were in Kochi in kerala when our first Grand Daughter,Dhriti's elder sister DHANYA was born.

I do not know whether others who read this maiden poem of my Grand Daughter Dhriti will get the same feeling as I have.Perhaps not.It would not be fair to expect so. But the joy I get every time I read these verses and the joy Dhriti will get for sure on seeing her maiden poem on print will be more than adequate to justify this writing.

My Creme
-----------

KOCHIMMA,KOCHIMMA,WHERE HAD YOU BEEN?
I had been to Sainburys to get you the Creme
KOCHIMMA,KOCHIMMA Where is my Creme?
When you find it my vallet,Am sure you will beam.

Paradox of Life

We know how to build Bridges across the seas
But we for sure do not know how to bridge our Gaps
We know how to reach the Moon up above the sky
But we for sure dread to cross the Street nearby.

We talk Aloud and Clear without a Doubt
But are we not unclear in our own Thoughts?
We have Material Richness for Others to envy
But we show no Richness in our Thoughts or Deeds.

We proclaim from our Roof Tops "Live and Let Live"
But Recourse to street fight for a trivial cause
We take pride of our Scitech Finds but Little do
we realise our Ignorance of the life beyond.

I sometimes pause and ask myself
Is this paradox of our own making?
Or is it destined by God with some purpose behind?
If it be,for what purpose, Pray,Can any one tell?

IF YOU CAN

If U can keep UR Head cool and calm
When all other Heads make U a Villain of peace
If U can trust Urself when others cast their doubt
Yet give them no room to doubt otherwise
If U are patient to wait and not be tired of waiting
Or to being hated without giving any cause to hate.

If U can dream without making dream Ur master
If U can think without becoming a victim to Ur thoughts
If U can treat success and failure as one and the same
If U can bear to hear the truth you better wished not to hear
If U are willing to lose without lamenting Ur loss
If U can hold on to Ur will when there is nothing to hold

If U can mingle with crowd and yet keep Urself aloof
If U can dine with Prince and with Pauper as well
If both Friends and Foes make little impact on U
U then will be a master of all U survey
Having Nothing U yet Hath All.

GROWNUPS' NURSERY RHYME

Scintillate,Scintillate Diminutive Asteroid
How I Wonder What Thou Art
Up Above The Space So High
Like A Sparkling Carbon In the Sky.

The above verse, specially composed for Grownups by the composer (self) ,if translated in simple words, will then become the following well known Nursery Rhyme for Children.

'Twinkle,Twinkle Little Star
How I wonder What You Are
Up Above The Sky So High
Like A Diamond In The Sky."

GOD,THE MERCIFUL

Whatever we do or we don't
How deep beneath our grief may be
Remember there is one God in heaven above
Ready to answer at a call from Thee.

He knows every heart ache
He sees every tear in eyes
A soothing act from Him
Can calm our fear without fail.

Our sorrows may linger
Make us even toss around
But vanish twill' with His grace
More suddenly than it occured
As with the early light of dawn
The darkness of night passes away.

Our Saviour waiting in heaven above
Ready to shower His grace and send His smile
Whatever we cross, Whatever be our pain
Remember God sends the Rainbow only after the rain.

Why pain and not just pleasure
In our greed we may ask.
Remember the proverbial saying
"As we sow,so shall we reap."
Pleasure or Pain,we can only draw
From what we have gathered
Thro' our past actions and deeds.

Who else knows this better than Him?
Tis' He who sends us thro'Pleasure and Pain
To make us stronger without a doubt
As we emerge every moment of time.

This being so,Where is the room
for Joy or Sorrow in our life?
Let us have faith in Him
As we wade thro'the psalm of life
"With Heart Within and God Overhead"

Farewell to Thee

Oh London,A City of Tourists' delight
Everyone's dream to see U without fail
UR Culture and Heritage Rich and Splendour
Under A Monarch Popular and Wise.

I hail from India,a Land with Mystic Air
A Land rooted since Mythological Times
A Land You ruled over many decades
A Land resurrected now on its rise.

I know not why my son embraced You for his living
Though this made me visit you far more than once
Every time having stayed here for long
I now know You better than most others you know.

When I ask Myself the question
Whether all that I see in You
Is worthy to Replicate back Home
The answer I get,Oh London, is a No,an Emphatic NO.

Greenary,Clealiness and Discipline
Plenty and Bountiful You Have acquired
Surely worth to carry back Home
Beyond this I see nothing in U to admire.

The Silence on which You take much pride
Reminds me of the Silence Of Grave back Home
Devoid of any liveliness all around
I rather leave it for the Grave to hold.

Your not meddling in others' affairs
Did appeal me when I saw You first
But finding an Indifference in Neighbourly cares
It now appears to be more a self centred act.

Your Culture and Heritage truly Rich
But I find in it nothing to boast about
Tis no richer than what We have back home
Dating to periods long before your birth was known.

When I see the Children here spend their Times
In closeted doors be it in School or at Home
Outside weather playing truant at Will
Depriving them of mingling with Nature around.

I realise how fortunate we are back at home
Where Children together in open play
Midst Fun,Frolic and Joy galore,what a pity
Your children miss the joys of childhood days.

As I see my son with his kith and kin
Engaged in routine day to day chores
I see the Stress mounting in their eyes
Having to do everything all on their own.

It looks crazy for every Act
Minor or Major otherwise
One here has to do all by oneself
Devoid of any outside support.

Why my son chose U for his abode
I frankly do not know
Is it your external glitter clouding his sight?
He will then realise as he grows with age-anon.

What Destiny has in store for me
I also do not know
Tis God's will if HE brings me here again
Time alone will tell
With my growing age and failing health
As I prepare to go back Home,
For the moment I say but this
'Oh London I bid farewell to Thee'.
