THOUGHT FOR THE NEW YEAR

NOTE:On the Eve of this NEW YEAR, with the year 2007 Ringing Out and the NEW YEAR 2008 Ringing In,I wish to share with all the Readers of KAVITANJALI the following Thought to practice in the NEW YEAR which is just round the corner. This Thought is not my original and was composed by by an Annanimous writer. It made such a deep impression on me that over the last few years it has become habitual for me to read it out to myself on every such occasion of NEW YEAR EVE such as TODAY and carry it with me as a Thought To Practice as the NEW YEAR Dawns.

If You Think You Are Beaten,You Are
If You Think You Dare Not,You Don't
If You Like To Win but You Think You Can't
Tis almost Certain You Won't.

If You Think YOU Will Lose,You Are Lost
For Out Of The World We Find
Success Begins With A Man's Will
Tis All A State Of Mind.

Many A Race Is Often Lost
Even Before A Step Is Run
Many A Coward Fails And Falls
Even Before His Work Is Begun.

Think Big,Your Deeds Will Grow
Think Small,You Will Fall Behind
Think You Can, Am Sure You Will
Tis All A State Of Mind.

If You Think You Are Outclassed,You Are
You Have Got To Think High To Rise
You Have To Be Sure Of Yourself
Before You Can Ever Win A Prize

Life's Battles Do Not Always Go
To The Faster OR Stronger Man
And Sooner Or Later The Man Who Wins
Is The Man Who Thinks He Can.

Profile Of A Happy Man

Acknowledgement:Reproduced from the Original composed by SIR WOTTON.One of the few poems of poets of yester years that made a deep impression on me.

Blessed Is He In Thought And Action
Who Covetheth Not Another's Will
Whose Armour Is His Honest Traction
And Speaking Truth His Valued Skill.

Whose Passions Not His Masters are
Whose Mind Is Tuned To Self Within
Who Hath His Life From Rumours Freed
Whose Conscience Is His Strong Retreat.

Who Doth Pray To God Everyday
More For HIS Grace Than Gifts To Send
Who Spends His Time In A Harmless Way
With a Well Chosen Book Or Friend.

Such Man Is Free From Servile Bonds
Of Hope To Rise Or Fear To Fall
Lord Of Himself Though Not Of Lands
Having Nothing Yet Hath All.

WHO CAN SHE BE?

She is with me right thro'the day
She is with me thro' the night as well
She is with me as seasons change
She is with me as you ring the bell.

She consoles me when I am depressed
She comforts me when I am in need
She corrects me when I go wrong
She praises me when I seek her praise.

She knows well where my happiness lies
She ensures this without a fail
She knows my taste well and thro'
She provides a pallet none else can brew.

I know her heart breaks when she sees me sad
I know I can trust her in good or in bad
I know her happiness lies in my smile
I know for me she will walk that extra mile.

She is my friend, companion and all
Without her I know my life incomplete
She does everything before I ask
I cannot live without her backing me.

If I am what I am today
I owe it all to her thro'and thro'
The proverbial saying of a woman behind every man
Is well portrayed in my case as I see.

What gives her the strength ,I ask myself
Tireless service day after day,
And what in return I gave to her
Some material comfort?
She would have got it any way.

I know I cannot repay all that she gave
At best I can thank her thro'these lines of mine
I pray you guess who can she be?
She is my love,She is my life
And yes if you guess her right
SHE IS MY WIFE.

WHO AM I ?

I went in search of my Master one day
To know from him the ultimate say
To seek an answer to my eternal quest
WHO AM I AND HOW DO I REALISE THE SAME?

To this my Master answered thus
This cannot be taught by anyone yet
One can know this only thro' Self
Can at best help me find my way.

As I seeked his help to guide me thro'
He prepared the base by Saying Thus
What you are does not change
And what changes is not you.

With this as base He further said
He would query me to which I reply
One reply leading to another query
Would help me address my unanswered quest.

The process appeared simple and plain
Readily agreed to what He said
To the maiden Query my Master put,who
I think I am, I mentioned my name.

On my so saying my Master countered
Were you not christened after you were born?
Being so you were present before you were named
How then you say you are your name?

I then realised His logical thought
Besides being christened days after birth
Name can still change without me changing
This being so how can I be my name?

Realising this I asked my Master
To proceed further querying me
He said He has the only same query
Who I now think I am?

Chastened from my earlier lapse
I answered with caution,am my Father's son
To which my Master retorted thus
Are you not also Father to your Son,
Husband to your wife, Brother to your sister,
Student to your teacher and many such Roles,
All capped in one ?

This being true, how can I be what I said
which is different at different times
I so said meekly to my Master
I realise, I realise what I am not.

You are then in the right track, my Master said
To know what you are, must know what you are not
I hence ask you once over again
Who you now think you are ?

Prompt came my reply now
Feeling certain I was right
My body,this body,tis'what I am
Being with me from cradle to my grave.

My Master smiled,a mischievous smile twas'
Noting my confidence born out of ignorence
Are you certain your body does not change,
As only then you can be your body as you say.

Knowing my Master and His wisdom well
I paused and pondered at His say
Tis the body that changes as a person grows
From Infant to Youth ,to Old Age onto Grave

Besides the body further changes thro'
Health,to Sickness and to Decay on days
If these be the changes the body goes thro'
How can I being changeless be my body as I say?

Knowing my Master would tell me the same
I ventured to correct without waiting for His say
Tis not my body Oh Master,I realise, tis' my mind
Which is me,am sure of what I say.

My Master to this paused to respond,For
A moment I thought I was in the right
Little did I realise then,His pause arose
To my failing to see the Light.

With a deep breath my Master said
Think before giving tongue to your thought
If the body you realise changes fast
Do you think your mind ,if any,is lagging behind?

I felt small, crestfallen on my face
Slowly but steadily recouped myself
Realised the mind is ever so fickle
Changes its state every moment of day.

Mind is cheerful at a point of time
Moments later is sad and morone
Besides with body changing as it does
Tis' but well known,Mind does not lag behind.

Realising this I felt small and shaken
In casting my views with undue haste
Surrendered to my Master in all humility
Prayed He showed me the Light on the Way.

My Master patted at my back and said
No cause to feel any sorry or shame
This is the path one has to tread
You are treading it fast and in right way.

When to my Master I now cried in full
Unable to look any further beyond
My Master in His Infinite mercy
Chose to change the pathway for me.

He now ventured to address me thus
What you are is not just merely the same
Tis' also blissful at all times ever,Knowledge
Of this leaves all other happiness behind.

Sensing perhaps I was still not clear
My Master chose not to await my response
Instead said to remember this
Material happiness is but transitory
The state of what you are is the
State of Bliss At All Times.

He now asked me pointed and blunt
How I felt after a deep sound sleep
And whether this feeling remained the same
Without any change in measure every time?

Startled at this query put with a Razor Edge
Unrelated I thought to what was so far said
My response to Him was instant and clear
A Blissful Joy I cannot explain.

You are right, said my Master, patting me again
This is the State of your Inner Self
This is where the Self in you, remains
Undisturbed by your body and mind
This is the state of Eternal Bliss
Beyond all Realms of Human Mind.

Seeing me shaken with a face that was blank
My Master ventured to throw further light
Without my asking He proceeded thus
This state of yours is the same for all
Is neither born nor does It die
Remains unaffected by emotions within
Also unaffected by the external world
Is the state you realise your True Inner Self
Knowledge of this makes worldly life futile and naive.

Although I felt what told was clear
Creeping doubts surfaced in my mind
What my Master said I still found Vague
I was not clear of what to say.

Reading well my thoughts as only He can
My Master chose to address the same
Spoke to me in a clear gentle tone
That did well in keeping my concerns away.

Now that you have heard the state of your Self
Know it the same as the Self or the Soul
Housed in the mortal body and mind
It acts only as a witness to their actions galore.

Slowly but surely I felt my doubts declined
Ventured to ask my Master how to realise the Self
Finding my request sincere in purpose,
He hastened to tell me further on the same.

To realise the Self,Learn to look Within
Mind as the carrier bring under control
This can be done by cleansing off its dust settled
Over it for years thro'your acts and failures.

Cleansing is done thro'a detached outlook
To all worldly affairs your Body plays
Hasten the process by providing support thro'
Scriptures and prayers and following the saintly says.

Do not forget,Never ever forget
All that you see in the material world
With all its actions, dramas and scenes
Is but an illusion as is a Dream.

You realise this illusion once the mind is cleaned
You then wake up from the sleep of Wordly Hounds
You then see and realise your true inner Self
A merger with this frees you from all wordly bounds.

Hearing this I felt a chill running thro'my veins
As I got up to thank and take leave of my Master
I knew the seed to realise my Self has been sown
Tis'now for me to nurture it and grow
Which I pledge I will try to do without fail.

But when I say this,I also realise
If what my Master told me of Self
I found it so difficult to absorb in me
How much more difficult I will find it to be
As I go thro' the process to realise the same.

OH MY DARLING CLAMANTINE

Preface:The Original Poem Titled The same Is a Children's poem composed of just two stanzas. When I went thro it for the first time in a library at SURREY (Near London)sometime in 2002, while on a holiday to my son's house in UK, I felt an urge to rewrite the same to correct what I considered as the following shortcomings in the ORIGINAL----
1)No link between the two stanzas. 2)The cause for losing the child is not clear.3)The last line of the second stanza of the original "Dreadful Sorry Clamantine"immediately after saying "you are lost and gone forever"conveys wrong message to the children for whom the poem was meant.

The composer (self) of this revised version therefore recomposed the original with the following changes----
1)A Link between the original two stanzas made.
2)Last line of the original second stanza changed.
3)Story developed further to have a happy ending.
4)Also given a musical stance for narration.
This revised version is dedicated to the same children to whom the original was meant.I leave it to them to decide whether or not the changes made by me on the original serve the purpose.

For a better appreciation of the changes made for the Readers,I,as the composer of this revised version, also present the two stanzas from the original for a ready comparison.

ORIGINAL

In The Cavern,On A Canyon

Oh My Darling,Oh My Darling

You Are Gone And Lost Forever
Dreadful sorry CLAMANTINE.

Revised

In The Cavern ,On A Canyon
Excavating For A Mine
Sat A Miner, Forty Niner
And His Daughter CLAMANTINE.

Little Darling ,Who Was Then Five
Lost Her Mother When Born
Brought Up By The Father Miner
Whose Only World was Clamantine.

So It Was On An Off Day
Little Clamantine Was At Site.
Holding To Her Father's Right Arm
Looking Down The Deep Mine.

As The Child Was So Engrossed
A Tiny Spider Teased Her Eyes
Clamentine Then Left Her Hand Hold
To Catch The Spider Flying High.

Poor Child Then Slipped And Down Fell
She Fell Down With A Bang
Though The Miner Saw Her Falling
Twas by then too late.

Oh My Darling,Oh My Darling
Oh My Darling CLAMANTINE
You Are Gone And Lost Forever
And With You My World, Dear Child.

With My World Lost,How Do I Live
Oh Tell Me, Darling Child
So Saying Father Miner
Also Fell Down In The Mine.

On The Next Day,Other Miners
When They All Came To The Mine
Both Bodies Found Embraced
In Their New World At Site.

Oh My Darling,Oh My Darling
Oh My Darling CLAMANTINE
We Will Now Live Our New Life
Oh My Darling,You Are Mine.

So Screaming As He Got Up
Father Miner From His Sleep
Thanked JESUS For HIS Kindness
In Making All This But A Dream.

His Little Daughter,Darling Clamantine
Found Sleeping By His Side
But Since Startled By His Screaming
Also Got Up From Her Bed.

Looking At Her Loving Father
His Little daughter Gave A Smile
Touched By The Warmth It Gave
He Took His Daughter In His Stride.

Holding Her Tight Father Miner
Thanked JESUS Once More
And Then He Uttered These Words
To His Darling Little Child.

Oh My Darling,Oh My Darling
Oh My Darling CLAMANTINE
We Will Always Be Together
Oh My Darling,YOU ARE MINE.

CHANGE THE WORLD

The world we live in needs a change
To make it a better living place
All those living Far and Near, may
Then live together as Near and Dear.

I see people in such a world,Free from
Prejudices of colour and creed
Human blood is but red in all
Also common are the peoples'needs.

But how do we do this,I ask myself
What role in it have I to play?
I feel tis not my job to change the world
There is a Government in place to do the same.

But then is't the government formed by men
chosen by people like You and Me?
Why am I then helpless to make the change?
Is it I find it too complex to face?

If this is the way others also find
How can this world ever change?
But if all of us play our role well
Why should I doubt the world cannot change?

If on my own I cannot do this,I can
still play my role in some small way
And if all together we play our roles
The world would sure change without my say.

I can make a start with Human Care
Adopt a helpless orphoned child
Or help perhaps an aged man,Or teach
A trade to a less fortunate maid.

If each spreads the message of love and cheer
If those who can teach do it on a top gear,
If we all together share our gains
The world would sure change at an early date.

I know the past has seen such men,Who did
All they could to effect the change,But the
Impact was small, nay almost unseen,Since such
Men were then A Few and Far Between.

But if this is done as a MASS UPROAR
Twill Surely make the Impact seen
All that We need is a Will to Start
Let Us Join Hands To Start TODAY.

CIRCLE OF LIFE

Acknowledgement:The theme behind this poem composed by me was taken from a similar thought found expressed in another write up of a similar nature in the Surrey (Near London)library while on a holiday in my son's house in UK in Summer 2004.I am indebted to the original writer for providing Food For Thought in my composing this poem.

Life cycle begins its journey
No sooner than a child is born
Takes a circular pathway route
Thro a path of Roses and Thorns.

As an infant in the early stages
The child grows to become a Man
With passing time as he further ages
Readies to enter the Unknown Land.

Lo and Behold from the Unknown Land
The Man reappears as a Child
Remaining in the circle as before
Is oblivious of his previous life.

Is it the Life Cycle so Simple as This
That it treads the simple circular way?
Or is it as a witness for its rebirth
That it takes the endless circular shape?

Life Cycle is not so simple
As it here appears to be
Somewhere in the midway path
I see a change in their Inter Roles.

As a child grows and becomes a man
His confidence grows in Leaps and Bounds
Sure of Himself and of Others
He oozes this confidence in All his Hounds.

What happens to his Parents then
Who are fast approaching the Judgement Day ?
Self Willed and Stubborn so far,Now see
In the path Their Confidance fade.

I see no need to puzzle further
The picture appears simple and plain
As the Child becomes the Man
The Parent becomes the Child.

Times there are in the above cycle
When the Life Journey goes astray
The Child or the Man without ageing
Leaves the Circle without a say.

They both still RE Emerge, as a
Child back in the circular path
Unaware of their past living,They
Resume their journey as in the past

And so the Life Cycle moves forward
In the circular path it chose
Glued to a circle remains endless
As destined by GOD before.

FEAR NO MORE

Fear no more the Heat of the Sun
Nor the Tidal Waves of Sea
These are but the creations of God
Who also created you and me.

Fear no more the barren Desert
Nor the furious Winter's Rage
These are but the Acts of God
Who also controls You and Me.

Fear no more the Lightning Flash
Nor the dreaded Thunder Bolt
These are just the Reminds from God
To remember Him by you and me.

If you have to fear,Fear Him Alone
But let not the fear be for HIS Might
For HE is kind and fair to All
A Fear from AWE would serve HIM Right.

You And I are in this World
Each with a specific Role to Play
Let us play our Role at best We Can
Till We are summoned on The Judgement Day.

Why Then You Fear The Acts Of GOD?
Fear the Creator As I Say
But Let This Fear Be out of AWE
We are merely Actors In His PLAY.

DIVINE LAW

Acknowledgement: Information collected from different sources in a library in Surrey, near London, forms the subject matter of this poem composed by me while on a holiday to my son's home around two years back.I am thankful to all those behind the information collected, without which it would not have been possible for me to come out with this poem.

The Sun sweeps on its course, once the cycle begins
And so the Moon and the Stars up above the sky
When they get clouded or hidden otherwise
The Creator steps in to put them back on their stride.

So tis true in our lives as well
Our path may be clouded uncertain of our will
Still we should move on, our orbit fixed to our soul
Were it to pass thro the darkness of night
The touch of the Creator shall give it a new light.

We were,We are and We will always be
Know This As Ultimate till Eternity
Tis our Body that returns to the Source whence it came
The Spark of our Spirit,THE SOUL,remains the same.

The Soul Appears dormant but is not really so
In the journey of Life Cycle,it has gone thro various source
It roamed in the forest,It rose from the grave
It took on strange garbs in both Commons and Brave
Has now taken to our body using it as its base.

From Body to Body our Soul speeds on
Takes a new base when the old one hath gone
The body that it takes is the Fabric that we wrought
On the loom of the mind from the fiber of our Thought.

From cycle to cycle thro Time and Space
Our Life reflects our Thought as we say
Our Thoughts drift away and in Destiny Blend
We cannot escape them Straight or thro Bend
For Better or for worse they fashion our fate.

Once we see our Soul in U,Him and Me
We become the same as that of Infinte HE
In The Hurricane Race We Become conscious of Pause
With Love for the Purpose and Love for the Cause.

We are our own Devil,We are our own God
We fashion the Paths,Our foot steps had crossed
No one can save us from our sufferings or sins
We alone can do so, getting hooked to our Soul Within.

ALWAYS IN CHAINS

Acknowledgement:The Thought Behind This Poem As Composed By The Composer (self)Is Taken From The Famous Quote: "Man Is Born Free But Every Where He Is In Chains."

When I was born from my Mother's Womb
And got freed from The Umbilical Cord
I thought I had come to A World Anew
That would keep me free from The Chains Of All.

Little Did I Realise then
That the world would be so different
That my thought would remain but a dream
And that I could only be bonded free.

My mother's care in my infant days
Kept me chained along my way
And as I started attending school
My father's reigns saw me through.

During the later days of my student life
Twas my teacher's turn to monitor me
There was little that I could do
Without his eagle eyes probing on me

As I turned to work for my living
Twas my Senior's turn to oversee me
This he did to my utter dismay
Made me dance to his changing needs.

As I tasted the marital bliss
I thought I could do as I wished
But alas even this was not to be
With the demands my beloved placed on me.

AS I grew old and lost my strength
On my kith and kin I became dependent
Without their support I could not live
In silence I prayed for my escape at will.

As if these chains were not known
Society I lived played its role
Rituals and practices I least believed
Were still performed for those not seen by me.

If this is true for others as well
Is this life worth living, I ask myself
Pray tell me when a man is born free
Why should he live his life chained like me?

NEW WORLD

I Long To See The World Anew
Where Love And Joy Always Dwell
Where The Green Eyed Monster Has No Place To seek
Where We Only Hear The Sweet Music Of Bells.

Where Blame Game Has No Ground To Play
Where People Live And Let Live Others
Where One And All Share Both Losses and Gains
Unmindful Of The Caste Or Creed They Bear.

Where The Gentle Breeze Brings A Freshness In Life
Undeterred By The Global Warmth We Feel
The Soil Pollute Yet To Find Its Way
A World That Needs None To Scout Around.

Yes, This Is The World I Dream About
A World Sure To Come True One Day
A World,I Can Tell Back Home,As The Place
For My Heart To Eternally Stay.

The Woods

When I First Wandered Deep In The Woods
Twas A Long Time Ago
I Was Then A Lad Of Ten Years Old
Living In A World Of My Own.

I felt No Fear, Neither Stress Nor Strain
Stillness Held Me Though,Twas Only When
The Sun Set and The Moon Gave No Light
I Cared To return Home.

When I Came To The Same Woods Again
Later As A Man With Dreams And Hopes
I Felt a Change In Me, I Knew
As I Paused To Walk Alone.

I Wished A Mate To Hold My hands
And To walk With Me and Roam
But Finding None ,The Woods Gave No Delight
I Longed To Return Home.

As Seasons Changed And I Grew In Age
I Came To The Same Woods Again
I Then Mingled With The Nature Around
And Found It a Place Fit For My Home.

The Woods was The same And So was I
Yet To Me It Changed With Time
Tell Me Friends, Why This If U Can
Or Is It By God Destined To Be So?

QUEER LANGUAGE

Note:This Poem, A Satire On ENGLISH LANGUAGE, Composed By The Composer (self)on the Information Collated From Various Sources In A SURREY (Near London)Library Is Dedicated To ALL ENGLISH SPEAKING Friends Around The Globe With Love To All And Malice Towards None.I Hope This Makes An Enjoyable Reading.

If U Know Ur Indian History Well
U Very Well Know, How Twas A Long Time Ago
A Few Whites From A Far Off Land
Ruled Our Country As Never Before.

When The Time For Them To Leave Us Came
They Left Behind A Memoir Worthy Of Their Fame
They Called It ENGLISH,The Language They Spoke
Now Spoken By Many Across The Globe.

Being Able To Speak The Language Became A Need
For All Those Who Wished To Succeed
I Learned It In My Student Days
Pray U Now Hear What I Wish To Say.

Much As I Read And Love THe Language
Find It To Myself As One Very Queer
Some Words Spelt And Spoken Without A Change
Yet Find To Mean Different In Multiple Ways.

Cricket Is An Insect, As I Knew It In My School
But When Played I Find It Becomes A Game
A Jumper Is One That a Person Wears,Yet One Can
Still Be a Jumper Without Wearing The same.

A Little Journey Is A Trip,I Am Told
But Is Not A Trip What When One Fails?
And If Jam Is Needed To Cover The Bread
Why Can't My door, When Jammed,Provide The same?

U Spin A Top, You Go For A Spin
Or U Spin a yarn May Be
Yet Every Spin Is A Different Spin
As One Can Plainly See.

Tis Not Clear, Tis Very Queer
Pray Who Can Clear This To Me?
Words Spelt and Spoken Without A Change
yet Mean Different As We Have Seen.

I Find The Language Still More Queer
When I View It Through Another Site
Past And Present Stay Together
When A Book Is Found Read Even As I Read.

To Top It all I Wonder Why
Rest Is Placed Well Before Work
I Also Find It Hard To Take
How Could U Diverse Before You Wed?

If U Wonder Whither I say all this
Pray U refer To MEANING BOOK OF WORDS* (*Dictionary)
Before I Stop, I ask U But This,Why
Some Words Have Letters Silent FOR speech?

Lest U Faulter Me For Being Naive
I Confess I Love The Language Still
Even With A Nature As Queer As This
Has Withstood Well The Test Of Time.

MY FATHER

Note:This Poem Specially Composed In The Memory Of My Father ,Who Is No More,Is Dedicated To Him.

Oh My Father, Who Art In Heaven
I Bow To Thee Every Moment Of Day
You Dwell Deep Beneath My Heart
I See You At Nights In My Sleep Without Fail.

I Wish I Could Re Live My Bygone Days
Even If Only To Amend My Faults
Knowing This Not Destined By Fate
I Seek Refuge Thro'These Lines Of Thoughts.

I Remember ,Father,Those Infant Days Of Mine
How I Was Brought Up By Your 'No Nonsense'Care
Ignorent Of Its 'Spirit' Stacked Behind
How I Developed In Me A Defiance Rare.

I Know, Father, The Pains I Caused You Then
Without Any Let Up As I grew In Age
Were It Not The Firm and Guiding Hand You gave
Would Sure Have Gone Astray In My Later Days.

Even As I Recall The Events That Caused You Pain
I Feel Distressed At My 'Self Centered' Acts
Never For A Moment It Crossed My Mind
Three Other Children Also Needed Your care.

How, Father,You Managed All This Alone
Struck With a Tragedy In the Prime Of Your Life
When Your Wife And Our Beloved Mother
Left For Heaven's Abode In an Unnatural Way.

Was It To Feel The Pain I Had As a Child
When Hit With A Stomach Disarray
That You Took To Physical Suffer In Your Later Days
Unmindful Of Its Effect On Your Ageing Face?

I Know, Father, You Took Care Of Me Then
Not Resting Till I was Fully Cured
But When My Turn To look After You Came
Sure Should Have Done More To Combat Your Pain.

As I Say this I Also Look With Awe
How You lived Your Life On Your Own Accord
Dependent On None Else But GOD Above
You Brought Us Up Alone In Your Own Inimicable Way.

Gainst The Impact Of Your Physical Strain
This Act Of Yours , I Just Admire
Anyone Else In Your Place, I Know
Would Sure Have Succumbed To The Pressure Impact.

Your Detached outlook With Attachment To Work
Isn't This What one normally sees only In Saints?
Quite frankly, Father, I Never Thought It So
Till I Saw The SAINT In You As I Grew With Age.

I salute, Father, For This Spirit Of Yours
That made Me Face My Life As I Grew
When Problems In Life Starred At Me
Twas Your Indomitable Spirit That Made Me Wade Through.

I know I Can Go On Writing Without A Stop
But Tears From My Eyes Block My Sight
I Hence Pause With Just One Wish To Make
May You Be My Father In All The Births I Take.

PANGS OF A SCHOOL BOY

I Love To Get up on A Holiday Morn
And Hear the Birds Singing On every Tree
The distant neighbour Blows His Horn
I Wait For Him To Join Me.

Together We Study,Skip And Run
Enjoy The Morn Every Possible Way
The Birds Singing All Along
Make us Cherish Every Moment Of Day.

All Such Studies Made Under the Trees
With The Birds Singing All The Time
I Find,I Cherish And Remember well
Why Then I Can't Do This Every Day?

To Go To Studies On Other Days
It Drives From Me All My Joys Away
Under The Eagle Eyes My Master Casts
I Spend The Day To My Utter Dismay.

Tis Then At Times I Go To Shell
Remain In My Own Dreamy World
Many Such Anxious Moments I Spend
Till Brought To Earth, By My Teacher,Who Else?

The High Domed Walls With Marble Floors
Stacked With Wooden Planks Galore
To Me Appear Grey And Dull
With Mother Nature Just At A Moment's Throw.

How Can A Bird Born For Joy
Be Asked To Sit In A Cage And Sing?
How Can A Boy Who Nature Loves
Be Asked To Study In A Concrete Den?

Oh My Loving Mom And Dad
I Know Your Interest Lies In Me
But If Stripped Of My Infant Joy
How Can I Feel It Ever In Me?

Study I Must,I know, I Will
But Let Me Study The Natural Way
Let Me Join The Birds In The Trees
And Enjoy Their Singing As I Study Beneath.

RECRUITER

Note---This Poem Was Specially Composed And Dedicated To All Recruiters On The Occasion Of National Recruiters Day Celebrated In Mumbai On 9th March 2007. As The Composer (self) Is Engaged At The Moment As A Management Consultant In a Recruitment Company After Retirement From Regular Service,I Also Got The Opportunity To Present And Read Out This Poem In a Forum Held In Mumbai On this Occasion.

Blessed Is He, A Born Recruiter
And Also The one Who Yearns To Be
Brings An Aura Of Joy Galore
As He Recruits People Like You And Me.

To Please One,You Displease another
Is The Saga Of Life As One Doth See
In This Midst,Apart He Stands
Doubly Blessed,Truly Is He.

I Remember Those Days Of Mine
How I Longed For A Job To Hold
No Recruiter Was Then On Sight
To Bail Me Out Of My Pain,I Know.

How Fortunate My Successors Are
You Have A Recruiter In Place For You
Knowing The Pain You Feel On Asking
He Gives You The Pleasure Of Being Asked.

From One Of Asking To One Being asked
The Pleasure One Gets Only Do I Know
Having seen The Days Of Scarce
I Can See Clearly The Recruiter's Role.

Shall I Call You a Magician,Oh Recruiter
For The Changes You Bring In One's Life?
With Your Magic wand,The Recruitnent Skill
You Are Now An Icon In The Corporate World.

You Are Also A Specialist In Your Own Right
No Less Skilful Than A Lawyer In Court
Perhaps You Are Both Moulded In One
More I see You, More I Gasp---Behold.

I Bow To Thee,Oh Recruiter
For The Noble Role You Play
As I Pray To My Lord In Heaven Above
May Your Tribe Increase.

A SEARCH IN VAIN

From The Days Of The Cradle Onto His Grave
Man Seeks Happiness With A Face So Brave
But Alas Not Knowing Where To Find The same
His Search Course Changes as He Grows With age.

As A Tiny Tot He Thought He Found It In His Possessive Toys
As A Growing Boy He Seeked It In His Momentary joys
Later He Felt He Found It In His Marital Bliss
But As His Children Left He Knew Something Amiss.

With Growing Age He Looked For It Elsewhere
Started Amassing Wealth With Meticulous Care
But These Joys Were Shortlived As He Realised Late
Restless He Remained All Through His Dates.

As His Days Became Numbered And Were Confined To Bed
He Started Looking Inwards To Reach The stud
Why Was It THe Happiness Eluded Him When Seeked
Was He Looking For It At A Place Where He was Besieged?

He Then Realised The Folly of His Search
The Days He had Wasted In Doing Research
If It Was Lying Within His SELF
How Could It Be Found Outside The Self?

Alas This Knowledge Came To Him Too Late
Lamented All His Years Spent In Haste
Oh What An Irony Of Fate

A Man Knows Not What He Is Doing
When He Has The Strength
And When He Knows What To Do
He Does Not Have The Strength.

HOPE

When One Finds In Life
All Doomed And Lost
When Life Loses Its Purpose
With Little Will To Live
When No Light Is Seen,Even
At The End Of Life's Trammel
Hope Alone Is The Refuge
To Such A Shattered Mammal.

Hope Is THe Torch Bearer
Leading One Towards The Dawn
Sinking Despair When Occurs
In The Life Of Every Man
Clearing Clouds In The Sky
To Show The Milky Way
Driving Darkness Out Of Night
To Pave Way For Light By Morn.

Hope Is The smiling Face
Of A Sick And Suffering Child
Is The Promise Of A Day To Come
Sweeping Aside All Miseries Behind
Is The Feel Of A Desolate Child
When Hugged By One With Warmth And Care
Is The Glitter Of A Candle
Like The Portrait Of A Bride.

Hope In A Barren Land, Is
Where one Seed Begins To Grow
Is A Surgeon's Healing Touch
In Setting The Movement Of A Toe
Is The Feeble Heart Beat Heard
No Matter How Faint It Be
Is The Fine Young Soldier
Who Did Not Die In Vain

Hope Hence Should Never Be Lost
Is In Effect The Essence Of Life
So Long As Hope In Life Remains
Nothing In Life Is Doomed Or Lost.

WHEN A HOUSE BECOMES A HOME

I Remember,I Remember
The Saying Of A Poet Of Yester Years
"STONE WALLS DO NOT A PRISON MAKE
NOR IRON BARS A CAGE".

So Are The Marbled Floors And Gilded Walls
That I See And Marvel Every Day
They On Their Own Can Never Make A Home
Pray You Now Listen To What I Wish To Say.

They At Best Can Make A House
Where Bodies May Dwell Side By Side
They Miss Something Tis For Sure
They Know This Only When They Dwell In A Home.

A House Becomes A Home Only
When Love Abides Therein
Friendship Then Is A Welcome Guest
In The Garb Of Neighbours Galore.

Only When The House Becomes A Home
A Home ,SWEET HOME,It Then Is
Herein Rests The Hearts Of Near And Dear
Till They Meet Again In Their Heavenly Abode.

A PLACE FOR ME

I Know On This Earth,There Is A Place For Me
To Show My Skill,no matter how Humble It Be
A Certain Work To Do Without A Fail
Were I To Faulter,I Cannot Travail.

I Know On THis Earth,There Is A Place For Me
A Dream To Realise,A Goal To Reach
My Foot Prints,I Know,I need To Leave
As A Legacy For Those Who Follow Me.

I Know On This Earth,There Is a place For Me
A Special Place,Tis Sure Will Be
To Hold A Hand Or A Word To Say
For Tears Still Left To Wipe Away.

I Know On This Earth,There Is A Place For Me
A Special Place ,I Alone Can See
To Give My Best That is Yet to Come
And When This Happens You Too Will see.

What Man Has Made Of Man

Acknowledgement--- The Basic Thought Behind This Poem Was Taken From The Original Written By An Annanimous Poet Under The Same Title Which The Composer (Self) Came Across While On a Train Journey In Kerala Some Time Now Nearly Seven Years Ago.It Was Quite Impressive to Prompt Me To Modify The Same In Places And Rewrite The Original To Present The Same With A Better Appeal To The Readers. To What Extend I Have Succeeded In Doing So,Only The Readers Can Comment.Whatever It Be, I Am Indebted To The Original Annanimous Poet Without Whose Original This Rebith Could Not Have Taken Place.

As I Wander Lonely As A Cloud
Amidst The Psalm Of Life
I Watch The Birds Of Different Creeds
Living Their Lifes Side By Side.

Oft I Wonder At Their Moral Will
Of Live And Let Live In Midst Of All
Seldom Do I Find Them Fight
Over Food Or Drinks etal.

When I See These Birds In Midst Of Men
Far Grown In Might A Thousand Times
What I Find Am sad To Say
Nothing But Evil Makes Their Way.

Petty Quarrels And Fights Apart
Men I Find Are Mean And Harsh
Little Do They Share Their Gains
Letting Down Is All They Harp.

But How Can This Be What Heaven Bestowed
With What The Tiny Birds Showing The way
How Can This Be The Nature's Plan
For What Men Do On Their Own?

If This Belief From Heaven Be Sent
If Such Be Nature's Holy Plan
Do I Not Have Cause To Lament
What Man Has Made Of Man?

IN REVERANCE

Oh MY LORD,The LORD OF DEATH
My Humble Salutations To Thee
U Are The Great Leveller Known To All
U Make No Difference In Caste Or Creed.

Is Not The Fear Men Have For U
Born Out Of Ignorence Of His SELF Within?
Is Not The Fear For The Life Beyond
A Lack Of Knowledge Of This Life Essence?

If There Indeed Be A Life After Death
Is It Not The Fourth Stage In One's Living?
Is This Not The Gospel Preached Elsewhere
That Should Dispel Fear From The Minds Of Men?

Oh,Was It Not U ,My Lord Of DEATH
Who Taught The Essence Of The Life Unknown
When The Young Lad Seeked The Truth From U
In The Holy Scriptures As I Had Heard From People Known?

As I See MY SELF,When You Pass My Sight
I Know The Same SELF Will Be Seen In U
Who Then Is The Victor Or The Vanquished
When U Come and Take Me To UR Heavenly Abode?

As The Knowledge Of SELF Reveals Its Form
In All Its Grandeur When U Knock At My Door
The Fear Of The Unknown,I Know Will Cease
I Will Greet U Gladly With My Heart and Soul.

And So My Lord,THE LORD OF DEATH
Am Waiting To Receive U At All My Times
I Know U Are Not the One to Be Dreaded
As U Come To Me Closer With Passing Of Time.

Happy Birthday

Note--- This Poem Was Specially Composed On The Occasion of The Birth Day Of The Founder Director Of Magna Services Where The Composer Was Working As A Full Time Senior Consultant After His Post Retirement From Regular Service.

D O B -DATE OF BIRTH
The Three Musketeers In Every One's Life
Who Meet Without Fail Once Every Year
As We Meet ToDay,The Birth Day Of Marwah
Tis A Day To Rejoice, A Day To Celebrate
Tis Also A Day For Our Thanks Giving.

But Then How Do We Start,I Frankly Do Not Know
How Do We Call You In The First Place?
By Your NAME,SIR,BOSS,LEADER,COLLEGUE Or FRIEND
But Then I Ask Myself Does This Matter, All These
Are But Words Confined To Their Meanings
Who Is Not Aware Of The Proverbial Saying
A Rose Smells Just As Sweet As
It Would With Any Other Name.

We Admire Your Courage,We Salute Your Passion
We Look With Awe Your Dedication And Progress
We Fear You When You Are Harsh On Your Tongue
But We Know Well Your Vision And Drive
We Can Never Match,At Best We Can Give You
A Helping Hand At All Times.

This Pledge We Take,We Will Honour Without Fail
This Is The Promise We Give You ToDay
This Is An Oath We Will Not Fail To Keep
As A Token Of Our Thanks For All That You Gave
We Will Not Let This Day Go
As A Mere Ritual To Repeat.

We Know We Cannot Repay All That You Gave Us
You Spent Your Nights Sleepless To Let Us Have Sleep
You Gave Us A Lot More Than What We Could Give You Back
You Enriched Our Lifes,We Are Indebted To You
And So Sir, Our Salutations To Thee.

As We Meet ToDay,On Your This Birth Day
We Stand Commited To Your Ideas And Hopes
Together We Will Ensure Your Dream Comes True
This Is Our Birth Day Gift To You
Take It SIR,With Our Best Wishes For All Times.

The Fateful Day

Note---This Poem Was Specially Composed On The Mother's Day 21 MARCH 2004 and Dedicated To My Mother,Who Is No More.In This Poetic Form,The Composer (Self) has Tried To Recall As Closely As Possible The True Events Thst Happened On That Fateful Day 15 Feb 1948 When My Mother Reached Her Heavenly Abode Thro An UNNATURAL DEATH.

My Mother Was a Gentle Woman
Who Had Never Hurt A Fly
Why Then She Had To Go To Heaven
With Such A Painful Cry?

It Happened Many Years Ago
I Was Then A Lad Of Ten
But As I Think Of What Then Happened
It Makes Me sad and Sunk.

Those Were The Dark,Turbulant Days
With Communal Passions Reigning High
A Trifle Suspect Of One Or The Other
Could Ignite The City Before People Sighed.

On The Eve Before This Fateful DaY
We All Had Gone To See A Play
My Mother To Such Outings Seldom Used
Enjoyed Every Moment Of That Evening Play.

Little Did We Realise Then,How
Fateful The Next Day Would Be
If Only We Had Sensed It Then,Would
Sure Have Saved Her From This Tragety.

The Day Dawned At The Appointed Hour
Things Were Normal All Around
Father In Office And Her Children At School
She Settled To Attend To Her Daily Rounds

As The Fateful Hour In The Evening Dawned
The Town Clock Had Just Struck Four
Keeping The Milk Over The Stove To Heat
My Mother Was readying To Receive Us Home.

In Haste She Failed To Lock The Door
Which Remained Open Without Latched
But This As A Reason Cannot Be Why
She Died Thro Such A Gruesome Act.

Three Stabs Deep And Painful
Found On Her Body,I Was Told
After She Struggled And Gave Up Life
We Three Children Entered The Forte.

Oh What A Gruesome Scene We Saw
Human Blood Spilled At Every Site
Even Today As I Dream It In Sleep
I keep Awake For The Rest Of Night.

Before She Died, She Had This said
The Killer was From The Same Commune
But Perhaps Said This To Pacify The Crowd
Which Had By Then Gathered To Avenge Her Pain.

By Now The News Spread And Our Father Came
An Ambulance Brought To Get Her Checked
But By Then She Had Breathed Her Last
And Only Her Mortal Body Remained.

The Only Witness To This Horrid Act
Was Her Brother's wife ,Who Was At Home
But She Was Then Too Dazed To Speak
Or To Tell Anything Cogent and Sound.

The Police Then Entered The Scene
Took The Details From All Around
Questioned The Milkman In Their Normal Way
But Let Him Go Free With No Motive Found.

The Only Witness To This Heinous Act
Was Later Called To A Parade Show
The Witness Still Shaken With Fright
Felt One as Close But Not Quite.

My Father Advised The Witness Then
To Free The Person If She Was unSure
But Even Today The Witness Swears
The One She Freed Was Behind This Act.

Following Years Were Difficult Days
For Our Father To Bring Us Up Together
In Doing So There Were Times
I Had Found Him Near His Tether.

As We Grew Up,Memory Faded
The Dreadful Past Became History
But Can Never Forget My Mother's Face
Though Was Dead When Last Seen.

But Then I Still Ask Myself
Why Did My Mother Die This Way?
Whenever I Think Of This Fateful Day
It Makes Me Sad And Sunk.

Forgive Us Mother, As Only You Can
We Did Nothing To Avenge Your Pain
Even As We Think We Are ashamed
Oh What A Children To You We Have Been.

Know Thyself

When as a child, I asked my mother
Pray why am I born in this world
She dazed and paused but smiled and said
"Dear,to grow,earn and live well".

Live well I did and years rolled by
Yet my quest remained unanswered
And so I asked my Kith and Kin
Pray why am I born in this world?

Ofcourse they said in corus aloud
To look after us all well
I smelt their greed but took all in stride
The quest remained unanswered.

As I grew in age and wisdom
With my hair turning grey
I asked myself the unanswered quest
Pray why am I born in this world?

Lo and Behold the answer came
That I knew was right comjng from my heart
To know MY SELF and the SELF IN ME
And to see the same in my Fellow Hearts.

As I pondered well and deep
Clarity followed like the Day after Dawn
Birth I will have again and again
Till the Self In Me Is Seen By Me In All.

Ode To Motherland

Note---This Poem,Specially composed On The Occasion Of Completion Of Fifty Years Of India's Independence On 15th August 1997 May Be Considered As Yhe Voice Of The Present Day Youth Of The Country,To Whom This Poem Is Dedicated.

I Bow To Thee, My Mother
I thank Thee A Thousand Times
For All the Comforts You Gave Me
After Your Struggle With The Whites.

I Came To Know From My Elders
Both Known And Unknown To Me
That Long Before I Was Born
You Had A Loving Son Like Me.

This Son,Mahatma,With Others
Led A Battle From The Front
To Drive The British One And All
Out From You, My Motherland.

Though I Was Not Born To See
Your Other Son,Jawahar,Unfurled The Flag
From The Ramparts Of Delhi Fort
On This Very Day,Now Six Decades Back.

When After This Event ,Mahatma Died
Jawahar,I Am Told,Took The Lead
To Start A Crusade Gainst All Odds
To Wards A Progress We All Could See.

Modern Temples In The Form Of Dams
Built In Places as One Could See
Milk Flowed In Plenty,Enough And To Spare
Food Grains Flourished More Than Our Needs.

Scitech Grew To Match Yhe Best Outside
We Could Walk With Our Heads Held High
People All Of Different Castes
Lived Together As One Great Mass.

We Could Show To The Outside World
How Free We Were From Others' Hold
Literacy Rose To A Level So High
Parts Of The Country Became A Matter Of Pride.

If All These Appeared Too Good To Last
Many Other Problems Remained Unsolved
Number Of Heads To Share This Wealth
Became Too Large And Affected Your Health.

Petty Quarrels And Fights Alas
Soon Became The Order Of Yhe Mass
Greed To Grow Rich Without A Thought
Robbed The Gains Of Yester Lots.

I Know,Mother,You Are Now Agrieved
Tis Now My Turn With Others Like Me
To Carry Forward Whence Our Elders Left
To Give You,Mother,Your Much Needed Rest.

This, I Pledge,I Will Do One Day
With Others Like Me Joining The Fray
Together We Will Complete The Task Undone
This Is My Promise As Your Worthy Son.

REALISATION

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT --- Original Conceived By MAHATMA GANDHI Modified Suitably By The Composer To Fit In The Form Of An Abstract Poem.

While Every Thing Around Me
Is Ever Changing All The Time
There Is Underlying All These Changes
A Power That Is Eternal And Changeless
Tis This Power That Holds Us All Together
That Creates, Destroys And Recreates
Isn't This Power We Refer To As GOD ?

In The Midst Of Death, Life Persists
In The Midst Of Untruth ,Truth Persists
In The Midst Of Darkness, Light Persists
This Being So,Isn't It God Who Manifests Himself
In This Life,Truth And Light ?
He Is Indeed All These, Himself Being The SOLE SUPREME.

I Know I Can Do Nothing On My Own
For That Matter Neither You Nor Any One Else
Tis HIS Will That Makes Us Do As He Likes
Being So Where Is The Place For Joy Or Sorrow
In Our Lives, As I Realise This Now
Oh God I Have But One Wish To Make
Let Me Remain Your Carrier To Continue To Do As You Will.

CONVERSATION

You Are Old Dear Father, My Son Said One Day
With Little Hair Left And Wrinkles On Your Face
But You Are Still Active Father, How This I Pray
Now Tell Me Your Secret, I Wish You Would Say.

In The Days Of My Youth, Dear Son Of Mine
I Knew My Youth Would Pass Off Any Day
I Cared For My Health And My Vigour As Well
Lest I Miss Them At Any Future Date.

But You Are Old, Dear Father,My Young Son Screamed
With Pleasures Of Your Youth Passed Away
Yet You Do Not Lament For The Days That Are Gone
Now Tell Me Your Secret, I Wish You Would Say.

In The Days Of My Youth, Dear Son I said
I Knew My Youth Would Not Last All Days
I Learned To Live In The Living Present
Without A Thought For The Bygone Days.

But You Are OLd , Dear Father,My Young Son Maintained
And You Are Also Ageing Day By Day
You Are Yet Cheerful And Ever Care Free
Now Tell Me Your Secret, I Wish You Would Say.

I Am Cheerful, I Said,As I Rose To Leave
The Cause For The Same, Let Your Wisdom Believe
In My Youth I Left It To God To Take Care Of Me
And By Joe Todate HE Has Done It Without Fail.

I Realise, I Realise, My son Now Again Screamed
The Cause For Your Youth In Your Old Age
You Are Not Old Nor You Will Ever Be
You Are Only Becoming A Classic To My Mother And Me.

Daily Mail

When I Had Gone On A Holiday
To My Son's House In UK
I saw Without Fail Every Day
Stacks Of Mail Delivered On His Name.

I Knew My Son Wrote Letters To None
And No One Known Ever Wrote To Him
So Though Was True Did Appear Strange
Such Large Mails Coming To Him Every Day.

I Asked My Son To Let Me Know
Whence These Mails Were Coming To Him
Specially So when They Came Without Fail
Day After Day Without A Break.

As He Let Me Glance Through Them One Day
I Found A Dozen Such Mails Or More
The Letters Were Of Different Shades
But In Right Envelopes Matching The same.

Lo And Behold What I Saw Then
I Had Never Seen Back In My Home
Letters With Varying Offers Made
With Catalogues Sent By Different Stores.

Some Offered Holidays In Far Off Shores
Some Offered Materials One Could Explore
Some Offers Covered All That One Aspired
All With Prices Cut To Tempt The Buyer More.

Some Covered Fancy Items, Some The Basic Needs
Some Offered Pension Schemes,Wishing One To Become Old
Some Offered Loans Disguised As Gifts
And All Aimed To Feel Rich,Without Really Being So.

The List Appeared Endless Without A Say
Could Lead One To A Life Of Ever Debt And Pray
Though The Mails I Knew Made Seldom A Sale
My Son Was Tireless Of Reading This Junk Day After Day.

PRAYER

Acknowledgement --- This Poem Was Specially Composed On The Occasion Of The Need To Eliminate Politics In The Work Place And To Channalise The Management Strengths To Meet The Then Need of The Hour In The Manufacturing Plant Of Which The Composer Was The Chief Executive,The Thought Behind This Poem Is Taken From The Famous GITANJALI Of Rabindranath Tagore .It Begins With The Original Of The First Stanza Retained As it Is and The Subsequent Ones Modified To Suit The Occasion.

"Where The Mind Is Without Fear
And The Head Is Held Is High"

Where Knowledge Is Shared By All
And Is Not Confined To One Person Lying Futile

Where The Plant Has Not Been Broken Up
By Narrow Walls Of Inter Personal Inhibitions

Where Words Come Out From The Depths Of Truth
And Leave No Room To Think Otherwise

Where People Strive Towards Perfection
And Do Not Mind The Short Term Pains

Where The Clear Stream of reason Has Not Lost
Its Way Into The Lame Excuse Of Past Practices

Where One And All Appreciate The Need For Change
And Work Together To Achieve The Same

Where There Is This Realisation
That In Team Work What Matters Is Not I but We

Where The Mind Is Led Forward By Thee
Into Ever Winding Thought, Action And Progress

Into That Place With Such A Work Culture
My Father Let This Factory Awake.

RESOLUTION

As I Grew In Age And Wisdom
Baldness On My Head Grew Further In Size
Wrinkles Now Form A Part Of My Face
Body Reminds Me Am Now A True Senior In Age

Before I Become Too Old To Write
I Have In Me A Terrible Thirst
A Thirst To Be Quenched Without A Wait
To Put My Thoughts In Lines In A Cogent Way

This Urge I Have, I Know Will Remain
Tucked In Myself, I Have Much To Say
Thoughts Have Remained Dormant Too Long
Tis Time I put My Thoughts In A Rhythimic Way.

As I Idle My Time Wondering What To Do
I Put Down My Thoughts As Poets Would Do
I Then Feel A Happiness Beyond All Bounds
I Know If I Write,Twill Not Be In Vain.

TODAY

'' Act,Act In The Living Present
Heart Within And God Overhead"
So Said A Poet Of Yester Years
How True It Is Even ToDay

The Day Is Here With All Its Hours
Yes With All The Hours Twenty Four
Let Me Strive To Use Them Better
Than The Hours Of Day Before.

The Day Is Bright And I Have Hopes
To Set Out In Open And To Sow
When The Sun Shines While On Its Move To Hide
I Know The Little Seeds Will Grow.

As IT Grows The Plant Will Yield
Fruits In Abundance Am Sure One Day
If Only I Take Care OF This Day
The Day That Is TODAY.

Friendship

Friendship Is A Treasure

Which No One Can Steal

Parting is Heart Ache

Which Everyone Will Feel

We Have Met As Strangers

We Have Met As Friends

We Sure Will Meet In Heaven

Because Friendship Never Ends.

Friendship Is Like China Vase

Precious, Rich And Rare

Can Be Mended When Broken

No Crack Will Remain There.

When The Night Pulls

A Curtain Over The Stars

Remember You Have In Me A Friend

No Matter Where You Are.

HOW NICE THIS WORLD WOULD BE

How nice this world would be
If only the people we meet would say
I know something Good about you
And then treat us just that way.

How nice this world would be
If each hand clap is warm and true
Carrying with it this lasting say
That I know something good about you.

Shall we not be a happier lot
If the good that is in us all
Is the only one thought about
By one and all as they recall.

Will not this life be a lot more real
If only we praised the good we see
Of this we have enough to spare
Even in the worst of you and me.

Will it then not be nice to say
In a fitting manner and pleasant way
You know something good about me
I know something good about you.

I know the goodness in you
You know the goodness in me
Then why pray we fail to see
What can make our world as it should be.

SMILE

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT---Original appeared in Internet some time in September 1999 which was modified suitably by the composer (self)to fit in the form of a poem.

I knew not smiling is so infectious
That it catches one like the FLU
Till someone smiled at me the other day
And I started smiling too.

When I passed around the corner
Someone saw my Grin
When He smiled I realised
I had passed it on to him.

As I thought about that smile
I then found it worth a Tonne
A single smile just like mine
Could travel round the Earth and Sun

If you ever sight a smile
Do not keep it all to you
Be sure to start an epidemic quick
That infects all well and true.

BODY MACHINERY

You know the model of your car
You know just what its powers are
You treat it with great deal of care
You tax it no more than what it can bear.

But for your own self, tis different
Your body mechanism may be bent
Your body carburator gone to grass
Your body engine just a rusty mass.

You hands may tremble
And your legs may ache
You still skip,skid and slide
Without a thought for the parts inside.

How naive we mortals are
To lavish care upon a car
With never a bit of time to see
About our own BODY MACHIENARY.

CERTAIN OTHERS CATCH THE EYES
WHEN I SEE THESE I SAY BUT THIS
WITH ALL THY FAULTS I LOVE THEE STILL.

Little Red Rose

Oh Little Red Rose
How well may you be
I would that my tongue could utter
The Thoughts that arise in me

When in the morn you bloom
The fragrance all you spread
And when at night you wither
You make me wait in bed

You are the Queen
The best of all flowers
Alas am not the king
To be with you forever.

Sermon

Rise up,Rise up little boys

Behold the sun in the eastern steep

Get up,get up little boys

Tis no time for sleep

Tiny,Tiny little objects

Have gone far away

Mighty power of Deity Sun

Has made them shy away

If you do not study now

You will get no time

If you do not study now

You can't study in the night

So study,study in the day

When you get bright light

Go and seek the beauty of the lake

When you get starlight
